Important Message

With effect from 15 Sep 2025, Work Pass Holders will be granted 5-year Security Officer's licence. Work Pass Holders must possess a valid work pass in order to work in Singapore and working without a valid work pass is an offence under Section 5(2) of the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act 1990.

Important Reminder

For renewal of security officer licence applications, please complete your Refresher Quiz before submitting your application.

An application/processing fee of $16 is required for all new and renewal of security officer licence applications. Incorrect/improper submissions will be rejected, and you may need to submit a new application along with application fee.

If you have declared any mental health condition in your application, please submit a doctor's memorandum dated no earlier than six months from your application date stating that you are fit to work as a Security Officer.

A "security officer" means any individual who, for reward, carries out any of the following functions:

a) patrolling or guarding another person's property (including cash in transit) by a physical means (which may involve the use of patrol dogs) or by electronic means;

b) keeping the property (including cash in transit) of another person under surveillance, including for the purpose of preventing theft thereof;

c) acting as a bodyguard or bouncer; or

d) in respect of any public place or other premises and as part of his regular duties, performing any function of screening individuals seeking entry thereto.

e) regulating traffic under the Road Traffic Act (Cap 1961).
